Understanding peptide grades
Not every vial labelled "peptide" contains the same material. This guide explains the purity grades you will see across the market, and where Supremacy Pharma products sit.
Common purity grades
Purity is usually reported as the share of the main peak in an HPLC trace.
Crude
VariableStraight from synthesis, before purification. Contains truncated sequences and synthesis by-products. Not suitable for most research.
Desalted
~70-80%Salts and some small impurities removed. Sometimes used for early screening work.
Standard research
≥ 95%Purified by preparative HPLC. A common minimum for in-vitro research.
High purity
≥ 98%Further purification for work where minor impurities could affect results.
Premium research
≥ 99%Our standardThe level we target for every lot we list, confirmed by a third-party report.
Research grade vs GMP / pharmaceutical grade
Purity is only part of the picture. Pharmaceutical-grade material is defined by how it is made, controlled and regulated, not by a percentage alone.
Research grade (what we supply)
- Manufactured for laboratory research
- Purity and identity confirmed for each lot
- Supplied with a lot-matched third-party report
- Not for human or animal use
GMP / pharmaceutical grade
- Made under Good Manufacturing Practice in licensed facilities
- Full validation, stability and sterility programmes
- Regulated as a medicine or pharmaceutical ingredient
- Supplied only through licensed pharmaceutical channels
What a lot report tells you
HPLC purity
How much of the material is the target peptide, as a share of all detected peaks.
Mass spectrometry
Confirms the molecular weight matches the expected sequence, i.e. its identity.
Net content
How much material is in the vial, compared with the labelled amount.
Lot match
The lot number on the report must match the number on your vial label.
Supremacy Pharma products are research-grade materials. They are not GMP pharmaceutical products and must not be used in humans or animals.
